Popie Update: 9/30/2020

Check out Popie’s latest photo! She will soon be highlighted in the OC Register! Keep an eye out for her as she goes viral.

Popie’s Update : 8/29/2020

We REALLY need help paying for Popie’s vet bill. It’s kitten season and funds are low and we had previously spent well over $1000 on medical care and procedures for Popie before this recent surgery that cost almost $3000. So his medical costs are approaching $5000!!! Please consider giving even a dollar…it adds up quickly and we have so many wonderful supporters!! We will post updates regularly and share more photos as he heals.

Popie’s Update : 8/26/2020

Surgery day….. It was determined once under anesthesia and full mouth exam that Popie had some badly broken teeth below the gum line and the estimate grew! Final bill $2,928.34!! But, Popie did GREAT during surgery and Dr Furman was able to extract all the teeth. Popie is recovering well thus far.

Thank you Dr. Furman, check out a link to his clinic HERE!

Popie’s Update : 8/15/2020

Popie was seen by Dr Furman at the Veterinary Dental specialists for a consult and he recommended a full mouth extraction procedure. He had a few teeth previously extracted and it was believed he also had some tooth ankylosis (tooth roots fusing to the jaw bone) so this was no simple procedure. The estimate is $2196.67-$2424.43 but we know it is what this boy needs. The surgery was scheduled!

Popie’s Update : 7/30/20

It’s been another couple months of recovery and love and the weight is finally starting to come on, Popie up to 8 lbs! Now it’s off to the specialist.

Popie’s Update : 5/30/2020

Popie handled the surgery fairly well and after his recovery he seems to be feeling a bit better and he is finally started to eat more regularly. He is still reliant on a fairly high dose of steroids in order to feel well and to eat so we know his journey isn’t finished.

Popie’s Update : 5/15/20

It’s been a few months now and we are at a loss on how to help Popie. He can NOT continue to live like this, he is in pain and we have to try to help. We have decided to go for it and do a small procedure to remove some of his worst teeth.

Popie’s Update : 3/31/20

Our amazing foster is trying to help Popie gain weight and get a little better so he will be strong enough for surgery. Popie has been on and off steroids and antibiotics but is actively bleeding in his mouth. His efforts to groom himself leaves him a mess with blood on his fur and the horrible smell remained. We have been bathing him often. He has gained a small amount of weight and is slightly better although he is not well enough yet for major surgery.

Popie’s Update : 2/28/20

Popie was given fluids and antibiotics, stayed at the vet for a couple weeks and went to one of our loving fosters to continue his journey.

Popie’s Update : 2/8/20

Popie was rescued from the streets of Santa Ana CA. He is in very poor shape as you can see in the photo. He is in a lot of pain, he smells atrocious, he is afflicted with severe gingivitis and a condition called stomatitis. He is severely underweight and dehydrated. He likely needs full mouth extractions but he was in no shape to undergo such a major surgery.

Stay tuned as we follow Popie on his path to a fur-ever home!

Have a great day!

Mike
